Easter

This post is for you Rosie, since you asked me to take lot's of pictures of our Easter adventure at Jon's parent's house.

I went a little crazy taking pictures and was really sad when I uploaded them and realized how bad the quality is since I took them on Jon's iPhone. (In case you're interested and if you insist, I suppose I would accept a donation toward the purchase of a camera;)

Jon's family colors eggs with sharpies which I think is a much less messy way than the vinegar dye in a bowl way.

This cat was so cute sitting by the grill, watching everyone getting ready for the BBQ and poking his little nose into everything.

Jon's sweet mom making rice.

Everyone hanging out while Jon makes pico de gallo (yum!)

Jon remembered to put his contacts in BEFORE cutting up the onion & jalapenos this time. His eyes said thank you and rejoiced.

This is Jon's grandma, Dad, and Aunt Francis.

Dad getting the grill fired up and cooking some fajita and chicken. I didn't get a picture of it but the fire got too high on the first round and the meat caught fire and there was smoke billowing everywhere.

The mysterious conservatory next to the grill. Magical things may or may not live here.

Jon's Aunt Lindy, sister Jackie, and Mom cookin' and stuff. Oh and that's Joseph's nose and glasses.

Jon's little sister Jodi and little Baby D (his cousin's baby...not Jodi's)

Jon's still working on convincing Baby D to love him. She employs decoy techniques like laying down and pretending she's asleep so that he won't pick her up.

C'est la vie.

Jon and JJ who is Baby D's big brother. (Rosie, this is Baby Soto all grown up). He's cute and was running around eating a giant chicken leg later on in the night.

Cute Baby D.

Silly, lovable, stinky Duncan. His allergies are better so he had hair on his butt during this visit.

Lindy with the Dora the Explorer and Diego Easter eggs she made.

Aunt Francis, Little Mommy, Jackie and JJ filling the eggs with confetti.

Papa and Aunt Francis dancing while the meat is grilling.

Brief interlude.

Papa and little Mommy dancing. Several people asked me if Jon has taught me to dance so I'm pretty sure I have "I dance like a white person" stamped on my forehead.

Duncan pestering the chickens and geese, the goose is hissing at him.

Jackie and Lindy hiding eggs in the backyard, a whole swarm of cats started following them around thinking that they had food.

One of the many many many cats.

I love being in their backyard, the cats are always doing funny little things.

I caught him jumping!! No one was as excited about this photo as I was.

I'm not sure what he was up to in this picture....maybe he just stole some fajita from my plate.

Me and Baby D! She let me hold her for the first time so now she is my favorite.

The egg cracking begins!

I tried to crack an egg on Jon's head but it wouldn't break...uh, sorry about that.

Papa let the chickens and geese loose. It caused a bit of a hullaballoo since the geese like to bite and leave bruises.

It was a great weekend and has to be one of my all time favorite times that we've visited his family. I really love spending time with them, they are so much fun and I can always feel how much they love and care about each other. It just makes me really happy that me and Jon met and I get to be a part of his life. Mushy mushy feelings. The End.

Hair: A Brief History

So, even though I haven't posted anything since that spectacular tour of our apartment, we have been up to stuff. Or at least our hair has.

So, to sum up, our hair has gone from silly, to long, to short, to black. The end.

The Grand Tour

Jon's adorable family drove 6 hours to Austin to scope out apartments for us and they found us an absolute gem. Our new apartment is hands down the greatest place I have ever lived and definitely the best apartment Jon and I have had since we got married.

The Kitchen

I don't know if it's a girl thing or something that came with getting married or perhaps its something people in general love, but these pictures don't do justice to the glorious amounts of counter space I have in my new kitchen,

which also comes with a garbage can that is magically emptied if I leave it outside my door.

But my very favorite part is the dishwasher--I have lived without one for far too long. Whoever invented the dishwasher deserves a gold star and a lifetime supply of King Vitamin.

I pronounced kitchen officially unpacked when the owls were placed on the counter.

The Living Room

Mmmhmm. It's a living room alright.

Jon's Creative Nook

The living room is big enough that we got to make a little nook for Jon to unleash his creative genius on his artwork. This works perfect because Jon can focus on his comics and I can read on the couch.

Sometimes Jon uses Spidey for a little inspiration.

Jon put up these pictures of us the summer we met and I got a haircut that made me look like a little boy and he had the sweet grace to fall in love with me anyway.

Our bookcase got a little shorter during the move--Target Schmarget--so I ended up picking my favorites and packing the rest of my books until we get another one. That's Julio Huesos and Pumpkin Head hanging out on the top shelf.

And above the bookcase is this cool picture we inherited from Jon's sisters because they couldn't fit it in their car when they moved back to Texas.

The Bathroom

The Outside and Whatnot
Our apartment is on the third floor right behind the middle palm tree. For the first week we were living here it felt like we were on vacation or visiting someone else's life. If it wasn't for the heat, Austin would be an absolute paradise--it's so hot that I have pretty much become a vampire and only come out once the sun has gone down.
